“On Monday in the Senate Rules Committee hearing, everyone in the room was stunned when HJR 1 Permanent Funds Early Childhood passed, and even Sen. Clemente Sanchez voted “yes.” This is after 10 years of trying to get this bill through. It still has to get through Senate Finance and the Senate Floor, but it’s very possible this bill may get to the Governor’s desk! Yes, it was amended from 1% to 1/2%, but that still provides $76 million a year to early childhood programs, much better than zero, which is where the bill was headed until the amendment was made.

And just because we’re feeling optimistic, we’ll tell you that HB 217 Electric Vehicle Income Tax Credit, and HB 148 Increase Working Families Tax Credit are one committee away from a floor vote, with good indications that these will move forward as well.”

Please sign petitions to demand a State-Wide Environmental Impact Statement be done by DOE before authorizing expanded plutonium pit production at Los Alamos National Lab. Petitions are at Taos Market, World Cup and Manzanita Market.

While I appreciate many of the things that you advocate for on our behalf,   (if there’s something in particular you like that they did, mention it or them)( always good to to butter them up first!…:)  )

I am outraged to learn that you are not not demanding that a complete NEW Site-Wide Environmental Impact Statement be conducted by the DOE before moving forward with your horrible  and unnecessary  plans for the massive  expansion of plutonium pit production at Los Alamos National Laboratory.

Your are wrong to go along with the DOE and NNSA’s ridiculously inadequate plan to do a Supplement Analysis, which is nothing more than a study to decide whether or not to conduct any environmental studies at all and has no enforceable requirements for public review and comment or impact mitigation.

The threat of nuclear war is the other existential crisis of our time, though it is rarely mentioned. The United States’ new proliferation of nuclear weapons, initiated by the Obama administration, and on steroids with the current administration, is increasing the threat of nuclear war. It is not a deterrent.

I am demanding that you change your position on environmental review in the interest of protecting the peoples, cultures, health, safety, economy, environment, and climate of your Northern New Mexico constituents, our country, and the whole planet!

This WILL affect us all!

From your powerful position, it is only right that you demand that a complete New Site-wide Environmental Impact Study be conducted before expansion at LANL or any of its associated infrastructure is allowed to move forward.

Think about the legacy you want to leave to future generations.
