Press Conference and Petition Delivery on Tuesday, March 10th @ 2 PM!
PLEASE!! call and email tomorrow and Tuesday!
(it will only take a few minutes of your time and you will be so glad you did it!!! )
We are going to gather at the St. Francis statue at Santa Fe City Hall at the corner of Lincoln and Marcy at 2 pm on Tuesday, March 10th. We will walk to Senator Heinrich’s office to deliver petition signatures to staffers from Heinrich, Udall, and Lujan offices. Then we’ll walk over to the Roundhouse and deliver the petition signatures to the Governor’s office on the fourth floor. People can park at the PERA parking lot with no parking fees.
From El Norte, we have gathered over 500 petition signatures and 40 postcards each for Senators Heinrich and Udall, Representative Lujan, and Governor Lujan Grisham!
With the amount of energy we are seeing, this looks to be a successful first step in pressuring our levers of power to make these much needed environmental impact studies happen!
call, write, share… repeat!
and ask your friends to do the same!
If you have friends in Rio Arriba County, Espanola, Santa Fe County, Jemez, the Pueblos, please ask them to call and write.
Even, or especially, people who work at the Lab should want these studies to be conducted!
We need our federal reps and the governor to hear from all of the Northern New Mexico zip codes..
Below are sample script possibilities and contact info for our elected representatives.
Please call Suzie with any questions. 575 770 2629
SAMPLE SCRIPT for LANL Protest:
Hello,
Thank you for taking my call.
My name is__________________ I live in ________________.
I would like you to give a message to __________________
While I appreciate many of the things that you advocate for on our behalf, (if there’s something in particular you like that they did, mention it or them)( always good to butter them up first!…:) )
You are wrong to go along with the DOE and NNSA’s ridiculously inadequate plan to do a Supplement Analysis, which is nothing more than a study to decide whether or not to conduct any environmental studies at all and has no enforceable requirements for public review and comment or impact mitigation.
*The threat of nuclear war is the other existential crisis of our time, though it is rarely mentioned.
The United States’ new proliferation of nuclear weapons, initiated by the Obama administration, and on steroids with the current administration, is increasing the threat of nuclear war.
It is not a deterrent.
It is not making us safer!
*I am demanding that you change your position on environmental review in the interest of protecting the peoples, cultures, health, safety, economy, environment, and climate of your Northern New Mexico constituents, our country, and the whole planet!
This WILL affect us all!
From your powerful position, it is only right that you demand that a complete New Site-wide Environmental Impact Study be conducted before expansion at LANL or any of its associated infrastructure is allowed to move forward.
It is also required by NEPA regulations.
