Your presence and your voice are urgently needed in the Plaza this Friday from 5-7 pm to protest the cruel and inhumane treatment of refugees in US detention camps.
At Trump’s camps, teen mothers and babies are held outdoors in “dog pounds” where they sleep on rocks and dirt. In Texas, refugees are being housed outdoors under a bridge with no running water for months at a time; Refugees including the sick, the elderly and children are confined to “icebox” rooms that are constantly lit for weeks at a time. Unbelievably, children as young as 4 months are taken from their parents, lifesustaining medicine is confiscated, and medical care withheld. LGBTQ and disabled individuals are held indefinitely in solitary confinement, sick kids have been quarantined in a padded cell without a toilet or running water and many have been confined in cages so overcrowded that most cannot lie down and the single toilet is overflowing.
We cannot stand by silently and watch these atrocities being perpetrated in our name.
